Community Alternative Service Program
The community/alternative service program is a constructive, valuable sanction available for use by the Municipal Judge to allow offenders to repay his or her community by providing needed services. The work is performed for non-profit or governmental agencies without monetary compensation. The program makes it possible for justice to be served by enabling convicted offenders to work in the community to pay their debt rather than being incarcerated.
Everyone benefits from this program since it:
• supplies a work force for projects that benefit the community;
• allows work to be done that otherwise would not have been accomplished;
• allows the offender to continue to be employed and free from incarceration;
• it is more cost effective than incarceration; and
• allows the offender to satisfy his or her obligations to the court and the community.
Inquiries regarding any services of this program may be directed to the Hobbs Police Department, Hobbs Alternative Program Coordinator
